Ingredients

  • 5 lbs whole chicken, giblets removed
  • 3 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 sprigs fresh thyme
  • 4 sprigs fresh oregano

Method

  1. Spray the air fryer basket thoroughly with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Combine avocado oil, poultry seasoning, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  3. Brush the seasoning mixture evenly over the entire surface of the chicken.
  4. Stuff the cavity of the chicken with the fresh thyme and oregano sprigs.
  5. Tie the chicken legs together firmly using cooking twine.
  6. Place the chicken in the air fryer basket, breast side down.
  7. Set the air fryer to 350℉ and cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165℉.

Notes

Ensure the chicken is patted completely dry before seasoning to achieve the crispiest skin. If you do not have avocado oil, grapeseed oil is a great alternative due to its high smoke point. Always use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165℉.
