- Season the chicken thighs thoroughly with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken thighs for 10 to 12 minutes until they reach a deep golden color.
- Place the seared chicken into the slow cooker.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the crushed fresh garlic, honey, water, rice wine vinegar, and soy sauce.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- Serve the chicken with the thickened glaze spooned over the top.
Notes
For a thicker sauce, remove the chicken once cooked and stir in a small amount of cornstarch slurry to the slow cooker juices, then set to high for 10 minutes. Serve alongside steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
