Ingredients

  • 6 bone-in skin-on chicken thighs
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 6 cloves fresh garlic, crushed
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

Method

  1. Season the chicken thighs thoroughly with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat.
  3. Sear the chicken thighs for 10 to 12 minutes until they reach a deep golden color.
  4. Place the seared chicken into the slow cooker.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the crushed fresh garlic, honey, water, rice wine vinegar, and soy sauce.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
  8. Serve the chicken with the thickened glaze spooned over the top.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, remove the chicken once cooked and stir in a small amount of cornstarch slurry to the slow cooker juices, then set to high for 10 minutes. Serve alongside steamed rice or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
