Ingredients
  

  • 1 ¾ cups warm water, 1 ½ teaspoons white sugar, 1 teaspoon coarse kosher salt, 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil, 4 cups bread flour, 2 teaspoons rapid-rise yeast

Method
 

  1. Measure 1 ¾ cups warm water (110°F or 45°C) into the bread machine’s mixing bowl
  2. Add 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 ½ teaspoons sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt
  3. Sprinkle 4 cups bread flour over the liquids
  4. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons yeast directly on top of the flour or in a small flour well
  5. Secure the bowl according to your machine’s manual
  6. Place the bowl into the bread machine and select the Basic/White setting
  7. Choose the 2 lb loaf and light crust option
  8. Close the machine securely and start the cycle
  9. Let the machine complete mixing, rising, and baking the loaf

Notes

Ensure the machine is level to prevent leaks during the baking cycle
Use honey or maple syrup for a slightly sweeter flavor
For whole wheat or other flours, reduce water by 1/4 cup and adjust settings if needed
Oil prevents the crust from burning and ensures tenderness
Yeast can be stored in a flour well if your machine lacks a dedicated compartment
