Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Lean ground beef (90/10)
  • 1 medium Sweet onion, finely diced
  • 1 tbsp Smoked paprika
  • 4-6 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp Halal-certified Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1-2 tbsp Hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 4 cups Jasmine rice, cooked and chilled
  • 4 stalks Green onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp Toasted sesame seeds

Method

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
  2. Add the lean ground beef and diced sweet onion to the skillet.
  3. Season with sea salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika, cooking until the beef is browned and the onions are softened.
  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, low-sodium soy sauce, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and cornstarch.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture over the beef, stirring continuously until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
  7. Add the cooked jasmine rice to the skillet, folding everything together until the rice is heated through and well-coated with the sauce.
  8. Garnish with freshly sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

Using chilled, pre-cooked jasmine rice yields the best texture and prevents it from becoming mushy. Ensure the skillet is hot before adding the beef to achieve a proper sear. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
