- Adjust oven rack to the lower third and preheat oven to 375°F
- Season chicken breasts with black pepper and salt
- Cook the crispy bacon substitute in a skillet over medium heat until golden, then set aside
- In the same pan, sauté garlic until fragrant
- Pour maple syrup and soy sauce into the pan, scraping up any browned bits
- Simmer the glaze until slightly thickened (5-7 minutes)
- Place seared chicken breasts in the pan, coat with glaze, and bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken is cooked through
- Rest chicken for 5 minutes, then top with the crispy substitute and reduce glaze further in the oven if desired
- Serve warm with remaining sauce
