Method
- In a large bowl, whisk 3 cups flour, 2½ cups sugar, 1½ tsp baking powder, 1½ tsp salt, and poppy seeds
- Use a rubber spatula to scrape bowl edges
- Crack 3 room-temperature eggs into mixing bowl
- Add 1½ cups milk, 1½ tsp vanilla, and 1½ tsp lemon extract
- Fold dry ingredients into wet with a rubber spatula
- Stop mixing when streaks disappear (max 30 seconds)
- Pour batter into buttered 8x4-inch pans
- Bake 50-55 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean
- While pans cool 10 minutes, prepare glaze: mix ¾ cup sugar + ¼ cup orange juice + ½ tsp lemon extract
- Pour glaze over warm loaves

Eggless option: Replace 3 eggs with applesauce or yogurt for 1½ cups
