Ingredients
Method
- Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.
- Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the ground turkey to the pot, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned throughout.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the chili powder, smoked paprika, oregano, cumin, cayenne, salt, and black pepper, stirring to coat the meat.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and chicken broth, stirring well to combine.
- Add the mashed kidney beans, which helps thicken the chili naturally.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- Serve hot, garnished with your favorite toppings.
Notes
Substitute avocado oil for olive oil if preferred. For a thicker consistency, simmer uncovered for the last 10 minutes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
