Ingredients

  • 4 slices sourdough bread (Sturdy bread prevents sogginess)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (Softened for smooth spreading)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (Fresh garlic ensures vibrant flavor)
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley, optional (Optional for brightness)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (Provides meltability)
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (Sharp variety adds tang)
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone cheese (Enhances overall richness)

Method

  1. Soften the butter at room temperature for 15 minutes
  2. Mince garlic until a paste forms
  3. Combine butter, garlic, and parsley in a bowl until smooth
  4. Spread garlic butter evenly on one side of each bread slice
  5. Layer cheeses evenly on the unbuttered sides
  6. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat
  7. Place sandwiches buttered side down in the pan
  8. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown
  9. Press gently with a spatula to flatten
  10. Transfer to a plate, slice in half, and serve immediately

Notes

Use non-stick cookware to avoid burning the butter
Preheat the skillet for 1 minute to ensure even browning
Cook only one sandwich at a time to prevent crowding and uneven cooking
For a custom touch, add tomato, avocado, or herbs like basil to the cheese layer
Allow sandwiches to rest for 1-2 minutes after grilling for perfect cheese flow
