Ingredients
Method
- Preheat your oven to 350 F.
- Season the cubed chicken with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken until golden brown and fully cooked.
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the fusilli pasta until al dente.
- In the same skillet or a separate pot, combine chicken broth, bouillon, and half and half, simmering until slightly thickened.
- Stir in 2 cups of the cheddar cheese until melted into a smooth sauce.
- Combine the cooked pasta, seared chicken, and broccoli florets in a large baking dish.
- Pour the cheese sauce over the mixture and stir to combine thoroughly.
- Top with the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese and the crispy fried onions.
- Bake for approximately 50 minutes or until bubbly and golden brown on top.
Notes
Ensure you use low-sodium chicken broth to control the final saltiness of the dish, especially when using bouillon. Freshly shredded cheese is highly recommended for the smoothest melting texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days; reheat in the oven to keep the onion topping crisp.
